A clean technology
Nemmès was created to offer a different kind of jewelry, with more meaning and values. The impact of our concept on the planet has always been the heart of our concerns, and this has led us to make strong choices in terms of technology and production methods.
Initially, Nemmès jewelry was to be created using 3D printers! However, we realized in 2018 that this method would have a negative environmental and social impact. We decided to change everything, by switching to a completely different technology: laser cutting.
While metal casting, a method traditionally used in jewelry, consumes a lot of energy, laser cutting is an ingenious way to bring metal shapes to life, consuming less energy and producing less waste.
Moreover, the French electricity used for the production of Nemmès jewelry is much cleaner than the energy used in Asia (mostly from coal) where traditional jewelry is made.

During the laser cutting process, the metal plate is also optimized to get the maximum number of cuts at the same time. The excess cuttings are recycled in a virtuous circle.
Recycled and recyclable, your Nemmès jewelry has a reduced impact on the planet. This is also the case for the packaging we use, for which we went above and beyond!

Combining practicality, aesthetics and respect for the environment is not easy. However, our design team succeeded in doing so, thanks to French partners based in Clermont-Ferrand and Paris.
The new Nemmès cases are minimalistic, slim and neat. 100% made in France, in Clermont-Ferrand, we designed them to be as eco-friendly as possible, using recycled cardboard, without chlorine and without glue. They are even compostable!
As for our creative giftcards and other documents, they are now made in Paris, using 100% recycled paper from sustainably managed forests.

We calculated and compared the carbon footprint of a piece of Nemmès jewelry to Pandora jewelry, the brand which sells the most jewelry in the world today, and one of the only brands that publishes data on the carbon impact of its activity.
On average, giving life to a Nemmès piece of jewelry produces four times less CO2 than a piece of Pandora jewelry. This is just the beginning, and we intend to go even further in the future!
